Today we launched the new website for Good Life Tattoos & Piercings. Steve-bear and I collaborated to bring a full website, complete with artist portfolios, and a complete back-end CMS system, so the artists can update their portfolios whenever they want. These guys are definitely one of the best shops in Ohio, so be sure to check out their stuff.

I just dropped by Akron’s Annual Art in the Square, and found Kim (and her adorable dog), who is selling the new shirts that Cheryl and I created for the event. Cheryl did the illustration, and I handled the text/layout. Adam at Revival did the printing. Also, several of my friends are vendors, so I snapped a photo of some cards I recently made for Traci, which are alongside the cards I made for Brian.

New Arrah and the Ferns Shirt

Here’s a new shirt I just sent out for Arrah and the Ferns, to be sold on their upcoming tour, in support of their new record. I’ve been drawing a lot more lately, a lot of sketchbook doodling. So for this shirt I made some hand-drawn type, and little extra hand-made bits. I really appreciate the use of non-computer generated art within the graphic design medium; I think that’s a key characteristic of my work. That, and it’s just nice to step away from the computer for a while.

KidRobot just posted a press release on their Kronikle blog about this months Lovely Lowbrow Toy Show. The release featured my piece, alongside pieces by other artists in the show; Julia Bunn, Jeff Lamm, Jamie Suvak, Joshua Davis, Kate Budd, Sh!t Heap, and Jaron Tager. Also including the type-treatment I created for the show. So thrilled to see my piece up on this site.

Gifts From Enola LP’s

I just got these LP’s in the mail via the label, and the tour copies from the band when they passed through town last week. And i wanted to post the details up here, to show how well Pirates Press did of manufacturing these records. Specs include: Spot Color printed Poly Jacket, Die-Cut Outer Sleeve, Full-color Inside Sleeve, and three different colors of vinyl (all shown below).

Feature on French Paper Sample Room

My favorite paper company featured some of my work in their Sample Room today. French Paper has the absolute best lines of colored paper, and all ethically manufactured. They posted images of the sleeves I silkscreened for Giants’ “Old Stories” limited pressings on their Pop-Tone Gumdrop Green & Pop-Tone Blu Rasberry. Click HERE to see the feature.

The Lovely Lowbrow Toy Show

Here are some photos from tonights Lovely Lowbrow Toy Show, presented by Vivid Plastic. I made two custom MUNNYs. The first is a bear, where I re-positioned the ears using sculpy, which comes complete with a branch, and a suspended bee hive. For the second, (with the help of my dad and my friend Ray) I created a silicone mold of the MUNNY head, and then used the mold to cast the head in clear resin, with a brain inside. With the brain protruding out of the back of the head for clarity. A professional photographer is scheduled tomorrow to photograph each piece, so I’ll have better photos later.

Also, KidRobot did a feature of the show on their Kronikle blog, including the postcard art that Jeff and I made for the show. Awesome!

Good Life (part 2)

Meet Rickshaw Willie. I mentioned a few months ago about doing some new stuff for Good Life Tattoos & Piercings. Well, if this isn’t guerilla advertising, then I don’t know what is. Willie’s bike is a moving billboard for the shop, sporting some 4 foot banners that I designed to fit his custom-built rack. Additionally, below, Jesse just got in his new business cards, which I designed to symmetrically match Brian’s cards that I did a few weeks ago. Next up will be a full website.

33.3 Art Show – Tonight!

Tonight is Square Records 7th Anniversary, and the 33 1/3 Art Show. I dropped by the gallery earlier today to take some photos before it was too crowded this evening. So here are some photos for those who are out of town. For my sleeve I did Sufjan Stevens’ “Seven Swans,” with bleach and ink on tan canson paper.
