Sospiri Tattoo

Saturday, July 11th, 2009

A few months ago, I posted about our friend James, who got the Conductor, from the cover of The Winston Jazz Routine‘s Sospiri record tattooed on his arm. James just sent me these nice photos of the tattoo, all healed up. It’s nice to see the ink, now that it is free of scabs, and cleanly healed up. Also, check out James’s band HERE.

Th Fray <3′s Three Bears

Tuesday, June 30th, 2009

Spending a few days with my dear friend David. Tonight we were at Riverbend Amphitheater. in my childhood city, Cincinnati. Dave was kind enough sport his new Three Bears Ohio T-Shirt, (to commemorate his visit) on stage during their set. So I snapped a few photos from the press gate during the show. Also, we are about to re-print these shirts (we’ve run out of stock is size Medium) and are also printing girls sizes, in case the XS wasn’t small enough for the ladies.

Alley Cat Season

Saturday, June 13th, 2009

It’s that time of year again. And I had almost forgot! I was pumped when I just go this e-mail from Music Saves. They’ll be doing alley-cat hangouts in their store’s back-alley once a month. Last summer I designed the crest for them to print on Pint Glasses, which you can purchase at their store. Looks like I’ll have to get to Cleveland on a Friday sometime soon.

Yours for Mine in Alternative Press

Wednesday, May 27th, 2009

My buddy Aaron just gave me last month’s issue of Alternative Press. I didn’t realize this until after the issue was circulated, but Aaron gave me the copy because Yours For Mine‘s album “Dear Children” was featured as one of the staff picks. It’s always fun to see your work in an unexpected sighting.

Marie in Indianapolis’ Luna

Tuesday, March 10th, 2009

This past Saturday I went to Indianapolis to stay with some old friends and meet some new ones. The next morning (well, afternoon,) Joey and I went to Luna, an obligatory stop when in Indy, and in my list of favorite record stores. The first thing to do when walking into Luna is scanning their Staff Picks wall. And what do you know I found? Some of my own work surprised me. The latest Romance of Young Tigers release, “Marie,” has a very spectacular packaging. Released by Magic Bullet, Seth (the bands front member) recycled 500 already-printed digipaks left over at Magic Bullet. With some spray paint and hours of screen-printing, he saved them from going to waste. I did the non-handmade pieces of the album, the Disc-Face and the included stickers. It was a fun surprise to flip the CD over and see the Three Bears Design credit. The picture isn’t so great, it was on my camera phone. But I love Luna’s description of the album.
