Akron Addys

I’ve never entered into the Addy Awards, so this year I entered three pieces into the Akron competition, and lucky enough, I was able to walk away with one! I entered my logo for Summit Cycling Center into the logo portion of the contest, and yesterday was notified that I won an award. I’ll have to wait until the ceremony in March to know if it’s gold or silver, but needless to say – I am pretty excited regardless.

AMLP Photomobile – Exhibition Closing

This post is for my friends out in LA. The AMLP Photomobile tour closes tonight, at iam8bit! I have several photos in the mobile, and wish I could make it out to the closing.

See some of my photos that are in the show.

2011 Munny

I just completed my Munny for this year’s Paper or Plastic, A New Lowbrow Toy Show. Every participating artist is given a blank KidRobot Munny as their canvas, and this year artists are encouraged to include two-dimensional work. Go here to read more about last years show.

My piece is in the same theme as one of my pieces from last year. Due to my obsession with woodland creatures, and the name of the design collaborative I own & operate: I made a bear. Not a fierce one though. I cut apart the original Munny figuring, repositioning its ears to be more bear-like, and also moving the feet so it’s sitting down. Surrounding him is a forest of  hand-cut & stained wooden trees. On the figure, I used a dry-brush technique to achieve a similar, wood-grain texture. In addition to the three-dimensional Bear & Forest, I also created a framed 2-D wooden forest collage, to serve as a back-drop. Huge thanks to Rob at Vivid Plastic for hosting the show, and Adam at Revival for hooking me with the veneer in a swift manner.

The show opens Friday, November 18th, and runs until December 31st. At the Box Gallery, on the third floor of Summit Art Space, in downtown Akron.

Pittsburgh Tattoo Expo

This weekend I’ll be traveling to Pittsburgh with the Good Life crew, for the 19th Annual Meeting of the Marked Tattoo Convention. I’ll have some of my screen-prints for sale at our booth. So come by, get tattooed, buy some prints, or just say hello.

Thread Count Opening

I wanted to post some photos from the Thread Count opening last night. The selection of shirt designs was amazing, and we couldn’t have asked for a better turnout. Huge thanks to Adam at Revival for putting the show together. If you couldn’t make it, there may still be some shirts available to buy.
