Today I took a quick trip up to Aperture to pick up some photos from a past art show. While I was there, Scott Meivogel asked if I would sit for a quick (not really) portrait. He used a 4×5 camera, loaded with eleven-year-expired type 54 film. This camera was insane, you have to focus the shot with the shutter open, then close it and load in the film – without moving the camera or the subject. Using his iPhone light-meter, and the shutter was open for two seconds. Pretty awesome. I can’t believe how sharp it is.

Cleveland Polaroids

As part of the Welcome Back Cleveland show at Greenhouse Tavern, each artist submitted five polaroids, taken the day of the show. The Impossible Project sponsored the event, and donated each of us $50 worth of film. From the shots we took, we selected five images each, here are my five:

Most of these aren’t actually from September. But, I’ve been preparing for the Welcome Back Cleveland show, as well as two upcoming articles with Lomography. So, I’ve been purging all of my un-developed rolls of film, to get as many pieces together as possible. Here are some new ones, and keep an eye open for others to be debuted in the near future.

Lo-Fi Heartbeat

I mentioned in previous posts a Lomo Photography show coming up at Aperture. We’ve since come up with a name, Lo-Fi Heartbeat. Having photos in the show, I gladly took on the task of designing for the event, and roped in my main-man Tim Skirven for some extra-goodness. Here’s the poster for the show. However(!), there are still two openings for participants. Scott will be choosing the final two photographers on May 17th, so you can go here, to see about getting some photos in the show! Lomography will be assisting with the event; bringing a ton of extra things-to-buy, and even customizing the displays of the store.

I’m currently working with Scott at Aperture to bring some new ideas into his shop. I’ll have work in an upcoming Lomo-Only group show in June (more info on that in the coming weeks), and while meeting about that show, we came up with some other ideas. Soon the store will have some new apparel, for the analog-obsessed, like myself. Here are two shirts that will be debuting soon, one being a re-purposed band shirt I did a few years ago. The first featuring the three classic instant camera; Spectra, SX-70 and the 600. The second shirt with my favorite; Holga.
