Today, the great Japanese filmmaker, Akira Kurosawa would have been one hundred years old. He directed 30 films and is widely regarded as one of the most influential filmmakers in film history. His Ikuru and Seven Samarai (just two name a couple) are two of the finest films I have ever seen. I had to make a post for him today. In celebration of his Centennial, The Criterion Collection is releasing “AK 100: 25 Films of Akira Kurosawa;” a box set of 25 of his finest films (at a gawking $300+) with amazing packaging.
Dark Dark Dark House Show
Friday, March 19th, 2010Dark Dark Dark was having trouble finding a show in Ohio on their upcoming tour, as they needed a show on Easter Sunday. So we decided it would be a good time to organize a house show instead. If you’re in the Akron area, everyone is welcome, and we just ask that you either bring food (or beer) for the potluck, or maybe some $$$ donations to help the band get to Kentucky the next day. The flyer says everything you need to know; there’s two great local openers, and we have a backup plan incase the weather does not permit. E-mail me for more info.
New Website

Well, I was getting tired of the lack of cohesiveness between my blog and my portfolio website. So today, finally, after months of it annoying me, I went through and made some serious changes. Welcome to my new website. I can’t believe I was able to get it all done in a day, well – it’s all I did ALL day. Now everything all flows together. As you can see, to the right, is the full menu for my website. I haven’t posted any new work to the Portfolio section recently. This week, and next, I will be photographing new pieces, and prepping both this website, and the Three Bears website, for a really intense update of new work. We’ve been working out butts off for the last few months, and I am excited to upload all of the new work.
Also, Revivalist re-printed our collaborative Ohio shirt. We now have them in Both Girls and Guy sizes! Girls S-L and Unisex XS-XL. Get your orders in, before they’re gone!
New Wheels

Two days ago, I mentioned that I had a new wheel-set coming in for my Fixie. Well, they came. I had my friend Chris at Thick Bikes order them for me, and I can’t believe how fast they came in. Look at these babies; 700 Deep V’s in Celeste Green, with 32 Black Spokes and Black Hubs. Sexy. Flip Flop hub was actually made to hold two Cogs with lock rings, but we were able to thread a Free-Wheel onto the other side, in case I fee like coasting. The rims match my bar-tape and Brake Lever perfectly. If the celeste combined with the brown of my frame didn’t scream, “Mint Chocolate Chip,” before… well, it does now.
