Mothlight North Side

This is a video piece that my new friend, and neighbor, Samm (Mothlight Creative) put together. It is done with hundreds of photos taken on a Canon Rebel. No actual film, just photos, stop animation, awesome. Not to mention, all of the scenes shown are from our neighborhood, on Pittsburgh’s North Side. I live on the street with that awesome YMCA sign. There is a strangely neat and unique niche of film makers and graphic artists here, and we all seem to hang out together, too. Oh yeah, and the music is Fennesz, one of my favorites.

The Worst Day Ever

I didn’t actually have the worst day ever. “The Worst Day Ever” is a new short film directed by friend and client Thom Glunt. There are two shot locations in the short, and yesterday we filmed in the Monterey Pub, the neighborhood bar a half block from my house. As a result, we gathered a handful of extras from around our neighborhood, and you can see me dropped in a few places on the set, in these stills.

North Side Bike Posse

It’s a new summer, and the Bike Posse is getting a re-design. To be joined with Alley Cat races, late night rides, and Bicycle Photo Scavenger hunts. It’s going to be a good summer.

Sunday Night Films

A few weeks ago, a handful of folks, including myself, decided to organize a film group. Dedicated to expanding our horizons to only the finest films from around the world. We watch one movie a week, on Sunday Nights, in Akron, Ohio. And we don’t need some kind of silly, wild name to go along with it. We’re on our 8th week, and tonight is yet to be undecided, but we’ve agreed to watch something Spanish. Previously, we’ve seen work from Jean-Pierre Melville, Akira Kurosawa, Tomas Alfredson, Henry Koster and a few others.

Record Store Day

Today, Katie, Aaron and I spent the day driving around Northeast Ohio to make sure we didn’t miss out on any National Record Store Day Action. I was worried at first, after hitting Square Records, and Time Traveler, and only getting two of the 7″ records that I wanted. But a drive to Cleveland, and a visit to Music Saves, ‘saved’ the day. And I spent too much money, and got all but one of the limited-edition records that I wanted. Some specifics include Akron/Family, Grizzly Bear, Obits, Tom Waits, Russian Circles, These Arms Are Snakes, and a good handful of others.
