The May/June issue of Communication Arts is this year's Illustration Annual and it proudly includes the poster that Nick Spolarich & I made for Cloud Nothings 2014 Fall Tour. This was my first attempt at entering into a CA competition, and I was thrilled when I was notified that this project was accepted into the magazine.
FUTURALBUM is a collaborative album art design project created by Troy DeShano. Troy invited me to contribute re-imagined cover art for any album of my choosing, with simple but strict restraints for the design: Use only images from Flickr Internet Archive Book Images, and use Futura only for all type. For my contribution, I decided to re-design Things We Lost in the Fire by Low. I've been seeing Low concerts for over a decade, and being one of their classic records, "Fire" was an obvious choice for me. Pulling inspiration from the opening song Sunflower, I also used a similar color palette that's on the real cover of the album. My piece was posted today, see it here.
Old & New Project is a collaborative design project based on Biblical passages. It provides a platform for contemporary graphic artists to exhibit works themed on Biblical stories and passages. I was tasked with depicting the romantic passage “I am faint with love…” from Song of Solomon. You can order a print, in a variety of sizes from Society6, and the proceeds will go to charity . Big thanks to Troy Deshano & Jim LePage for asking me to submit a piece alongside lots of other amazing artists.
Let me preface this by mentioning that Mr. Cup's Graphic Exchange is one of my all-time favorite inspiration blogs. So you can imagine how excited I was when he featured my work on his site a few months back. Now, he's even published my posters for Josh Ritter in his THREE: The Graphic Exchange Magazine, Volume 04. You can purchase a digital PDF version of the magazine right here, which is about $9 USD.
I was contacted earlier this week by a French inspiration blog called Salle des Machines (or "Engine Room" in English). They were nice enough to feature a wide-array of my work on their site. See the post, here.
Huge thanks to Mr. Cup for featuring my work on his Graphic Exchange today! I've been following this blog for a long time, so I can't really describe how excited I was when I unexpectedly saw my work show up on the site. He covered my posters for Josh Ritter, the Caravels LP, and the mewithoutYou Box Set. See the post here.
