I went on tour in February and March, and found that I left my Holga in Caravels' van. I finally got the rolls back and developed. These are from my first photos taken with the new film LomoChrome Purple, and I've published a film review on my LomoHome. See more photos, here.
I recently had a series of medium-format photographs published in The Ohio State University's award-winning literary magazine The Journal. The magazine is published quarterly, and they selected my photos as the featured art in the 37.4 issue.. The Associate Art Editor, and my friend, Janelle DolRayne asked me a few questions about the photos, the subjects, and how the techniques are still relevant in the digital age. See the full interview here.
My latest (and long overdue) article for Lomography is a Lomo Location about St. Elmo, Colorado. I was recently visiting Colorado for a wedding, and while traveling through the mountains we made a stop at this preserved ghost town, which was deserted in the 1950's. My newest article for Lomography is a series of photos I took this past weekend in Western Pennsylvania. My girlfriend planned a surprise trip for my birthday, where we rented a cabin for three days, took a day-tour of Frank lloyd Wright's Fallingwater, and spent the rest of the weekend hiking around Ohiopyle. Today I went on a little photo excursion to capture a spot a saw while I was driving yesterday. I figured it was time to break out this special film that's been sitting in my fridge since Christmas: Impossible Project's PX 680 American Woods Edition. It's no secret that I've got a thing for woodgrain, and it looks so nice alongside this wintery scene.
I'll be headed to Pittsburgh tonight to celebrate the release of their debut full-length with my friends in Sleep Experiments. When I started working on the artwork, they specifically requested that I use these underwater photographs that I took with my Diana. I think the photos are well suited for their dreamy sounds. Physical copies on CD & LP will be available at the show; the colored vinyl edition is slightly delayed, but black will be available. Or you can purchase the new album digitally via Bandcamp. Hear my favorite song from the album, below. [audio:http://www.charliewagers.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/09/OutStealingHorses.mp3]
In honor of the re-pressing of If These Trees Could Talk's LP Above the Earth, Below the Sky, I posted a new Lomography article about my process when putting together the album artwork. Read the article here. The first pressing went out-of-print years ago, and now it's being re-pressed on two new limited-edition vinyl colors. Don't miss the chance to order a copy of the second pressing from The Mylene Sheath!
